A breif history

At the beginning of the 20th Century Potter Cowan was formed in Scotland as an Engineering distributor. As business flourished additional branches were formed in Newcastle, London, Aberdeen and Belfast.

In 1947 the Belfast branch was bought over by Mr David Allen (the late Grandfather of our present M.D, Mr Adrain Allen). In the same year we were appointed as the first distributor for Dexion storage products in Northern Ireland, for whom we have supplied for for nearly 60 years. In 1970 Selkirk appointed the company as its Northern Ireland Distributor and during this period we have developed the Mast supported Chimney and Flue System along with the Manufacturer and governing bodies.

In 1977 Mr Burton Allen (father of our present M.D, Mr Adrain Allen) set up Allen Engineering as a part of the Potter Cowan Group to concentrate on and to provide a design and construction service to the industry. This allowed Potter Cowan to redfine itself as a leading distributor of laminates, worktops, Kitchen carcases, doors, accessories and domestic built-in appliances as well as having a team of first class fitters and kitchen speacialists.
